Adult Functional Independence Test (AFIT) Seminar
"If exercise could be packed into a pill, it would be the single most widely prescribed and beneficial medicine in the nation." – Dr. Robert Butler, Founder of the National Institute on Aging
Do you have concerns about your posture, strength, balance, endurance, or flexibility as you are getting older?
If you answered yes to any of the above, this is your sign to come see our experts who can help you age optimally, safely, and help prevent injuries from falls.
Physical therapist, Mike Salerno, PT will be giving a FREE 1- hour seminar on aging well and exercise. It will focus on providing you information about the Adult Functional Independence Test (AFIT). The AFIT can also help identify chronic problems before they occur.
When: Tuesday, October 19, 2021 @ 6:30pm
Where: 7611 Pacific St. Omaha, NE 68114
Hosted by: Mike Salerno, PT, MA, FSOAE
The AFIT is a functional assessment for people over 50 that consists of 15 performance-based tests done by a licensed PT. These tests provide valid and reliable measures of the 5 key aspects of fitness: posture, strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility. Currently, Salerno is the only therapist in the state of Nebraska that is certified to perform the AFIT.
In 2007, the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) developed an initiative, "Exercise is Medicine" (EIM), to promote overall public health and reduce long term health care costs. Exercise can be a powerful intervention if prescribed, monitored, and progressed by physical therapists. Come join us for this 1-hour event and learn how you can optimize your health today!
To follow CDC, social distancing guidelines, this event will have a limit of 20 people.
